Ali: Ah Peng, I am very confused now.
Ah Peng: Why leh? SOP ah? Cina New Year SOP nothing to do with you. Why you so confused.
Ali: I opened a share trading account but let my brother used it. He bought a few million shares of a company. Make a lot of money from it.
Ah Peng: Good lah! Why you confused. Your brother very rich leh. No need to be confused. He is rich lah.
Ali: But the government now says if the account is in my name, the trades are in my name, then the shares are deemed mine.
Ah Peng: If the garment says so, it must be correct. No need to confuse liao.
Ali: But when I asked my brother to give me the money he earned from the shares, he says it is his, not mine.
Ah Peng: Owh. Like that ah. You ask garment to claim for you lah. The garment is always right, your brother is wrong. I no confuse.

General advice
General advice to young generation 21.10.2013
1. Unless you have urgent and important matters, try not to go to bed beyond 12 p.m. Surf the net and you will find ample literature on when our body detoxicate during sleep. You will not feel it when you are young if you frequently burn midnight oil. However when you grow older, you will see the effect.
2. If you wake up at 11.00 am, by the time you have your breakfast, half the day (waking time) is gone. A lot of things can be done in the morning.
3. Health is very important to us. Try to do exercise at least 3-4 times a week. A healthy body will give us an active and productive mind. Mum does her yoga 2/3 times a week whereas I go swimming 2/3 times a week and play futsal once a week.
4. Drink occasionally but never get drunk. You will regret all the things you did or said when drunk.
5. Make friends when you don’t need them. Do make friends with your class and school mates. You will find them useful in future.
Advice to son
Advice to Zher @ September 2018
1. Do the best you can in everything you do.
2. Be kind.
3. Find the thing that you are passionate about, that you love to do, and pursue it.
4. Success does not come easy. So work hard.
5. To compete in future, you need innovative mind, good command of English and good communication skills.
6. Make friends when you don’t need them. Do make friends with your class and school mates. You will find them useful in future.

换政府是常态
1。 2018 508 我写了"致要投废票的朋友"，里面有这么几段:
"2018 509 你还是想改朝換代，却执着于敦马的过去，拒绝接受现实，唯敦马有能力改朝换代。
国家病入膏肓，有个老医生来治，你却耿耿于老医生的过去，宁可放棄变天的梦想?宁可选择投废票，成为那不动于山的一群，结果就是帮助维持现状。老医生都说了，要清算我，改朝后才来。
509，选政府，试一试，换一次。
不必等了，就是明天。这是最好的机会，可能不再有了。不必计较是谁促成，一次就好，不行的话，五年后再換。换政府成常态，往后就容易多了。"
2。508发出去给朋友。509一早起床，准备去投票，看到另一朋友转回同个信息给我。哈!
3。事实证明，真的不行。 改朝换代后，眼看着体制改革有望，却败在老马手上。一切如旧，根本没有改革的意愿。
4。唉，看来只好等下一次大选了，希望真的是换政府成常态。

这一次州选，你真的不投票吗?
你怕Covid 19， 我也怕。不过，我们都打了至少两剂疫苗，要学习和病毒共存。只要遵守SOP，勤消毒，勤洗手，票还是要投，这是宪法赋予我们的权力，以选出我们要的政府。
如果没有州选，timah可能不只是一种金属的名字。Timah不可以是酒的品牌，因为它还是一个人名的缩写，不准乱用。官字两个口，他们说了算。但你看，你有一票在手，他们就怕你了，要顾及你的感受。
不要以为你的一票无关紧要，你的一票，可重要了。它可化为屠蛙刀，砍掉青蛙的两条腿，把 "Aku YB!" 变成 "Aku bukan YB lagi!"。你说，没了腿的青蛙，还能跳吗?
走吧，我们去投票。

You said you fear of Covid 19, me too. However, we have taken 2 or more doses of vaccine and must learn to live with the virus. So long as we follow SOP and sanitise frequently, we have to exercise our rights given by the Federal Constitution to elect our new government.
If there is no election, “timah” may still not be the name of a metal. “Timah” may not be the brand name of a whiskey because it is also short form of a person's name. Government is big and it has the final say in the matter. But look, with one vote in hand, they are scared of you. They need to take care of your feelings.
Your one vote is very important. You may use it to chop off the legs of “Katak” or turn “Aku YB!” to “Aku bukan YB lagi!”. Without legs, the “kataks” can no longer jump.
Jom, mari kita pergi mengundi.

Unclaimed Moneys

以下是我的寻宝经历。
Hidden treasure in Unclaimed Moneys
Sometime in July, a friend shared the portal of Jabatan Akauntan Negara, the Registrar of Unclaimed Moneys in our WhatsApp group.
On 25.7.2021, I keyed in my new NRIC number and found that I had RM625.27 in the acccount - RM395.79 from Astro in 2015 and RM229.48 from a BSN savings account in 2010. On 27.7.2021, I submitted the claim online. It was very easy - just uploaded my IC (both sides) and the latest bank statement of the bank account that I would like to refund to be deposited into.
A few days later, I keyed in my old NRIC number and found that there was a sum of RM75.51 - two MBB bank accounts in 2000 and RM50 from University of Malaya in 2002.
I have since received the refund on 13.09.2021 and 4.10.2021.
I shared my experience with some friends who found that they had unclaimed moneys too. One senior lawyer had RM40,000+ (proceeds of insurance) and a retired accountant had RM10,000+. They had both claimed the moneys online and gotten refund. I also helped our office cleaning lady to claim her money which is RM31.41.
On 24.11.2021, the finance minister announced that there is a sum of RM12.8 billion in the Unclaimed Moneys Account. That's a lot of money to be claimed!
Perhaps you would like to check yours. Who knows, you may find some hidden treasure too!

Second generation
Comparing myself with my 2 sons:
1. Their English is much much better than me at their age but I think my Mandarin n Malay r much better than them.
2. They hv better support n guidance from parents in their studies n choos4687-cing careers. I was left on my own. There was no counsellor in school. My teachers just laughed when I told them my ambition.
3. They have better tertiary education. The distinguishing factors are not only English but quality of lecturers n depth of studies. Instead of learning the law, I spent the first 2 years trying hard to improve my English n of course spending much time in PBCUM.
4. They hv travelled a lot more including overseas n hv better world view.
5. They hv access to a wide variety of books n also online articles n therefore better exposure than me. I read books on investment a few years after working but my sons started reading them while studying in university.
6. I worked very hard in studies n at work trying to do my best. They r more relax n less hard working (as of now. Hopefully when they grow older, they get wiser). I guess they learnt to work smart. Also, we didn't push them hard enough realising that a degree is just d stepping stone n what matters r many other aspects - EQ n others.
7. They hv better earning capability but we had easier time working, I think. Less competitive when we started working.

我太太生病时，我的感悟是 - 活着。这两年冠病肆虐，又加了 -健康。活着 + 健康 = 健康的活着。Stay Alive Healthily. 看来简单，做起来不容易，共勉之， 加油。祝新年快乐
